4.6L bone stock, but from a '00 MGM controlled by a '99 P71 PCM
Drivetrain:
4R70W from the same '00 MGM
Notes:
Bought used at auction sight unseen in 8/04. Blew the engine during the change to synthetic oil, so I got the engine & trans from a 2000 Grand Marquis & the PCM from a '99 cop car, and rewired my dash so the '00 engine bay harness would plug in with virtually no mods. The fuel tank was also swapped to include the later FTP sensor. At the same time, it was converted to factory dual exhaust, & an aluminum d'shaft was swapped in. I've also hard-wired a 1kW power inverter into the trunk and rebuilt the speedometer (140mph from a P71) so the odometer works again. It went about a year with a stripped gear, so exact mileage is unknown. Planned mods include '98-02 front suspension (for the brakes), 16" rims (to fit over the brakes), & paint.

22Buckets.JPG 296 hits | 80.66 KB | Posted: 8/19/11 I ran across these in a '99 P72 in a JY, so I washed them & swapped them in. So far, I know I don't like the tilt - no support under my knees, and I feel like I'll slide into the dash during a hard stop.
21SplitBench.JPG 280 hits | 84.76 KB | Posted: 8/19/11 The velour power split bench is OK, but I've never liked the armrest - not sturdy enough. And I've always thought I'd like a floor console.
96TaurusCons5.JPG 276 hits | 74.21 KB | Posted: 8/19/11 I might add some outlets from the inverter & lighter sockets to the back.
96TaurusCons4.JPG 321 hits | 83.06 KB | Posted: 8/19/11 With some trimming along the bottom & front, it fits surprisingly well. No idea yet what to do with the shifter hole, but I might put the ScanGauge in the cassette bin beside the lighter socket.
